JOSÉ MANUEL PÉREZ “EL PATILLAS”

I was once a member of Los Gofiones, with whom I actively participated as a soloist and songwriter, creating some of their pieces. I am also the founder and member of La Parranda Cuasquías, for which I was responsible for much of the repertoire. My songs have been performed, in addition to the aforementioned Gofiones and Parranda Cuasquías, by the always admired and sadly missed José Antonio Ramos, who included two of my compositions in his first two albums and with whom I had the immense honor of performing as a soloist in his final work, “Las Manos del Maestro.”
My works have also been interpreted and recorded by La Orquesta Deliciosa, Olga Cerpa, pianist Javier Massó “Caramelo”, and other groups and soloists from the Canary Islands, who grant me the great pride of performing my songs.
My current artistic activity revolves around creating my own songs, a task with which I have always been completely identified and committed, as I feel a moral and intellectual duty to contribute and work, to the best of my abilities, toward enriching the musical heritage of our land. This, of course, does not imply any geographical limitation regarding the content of my creative work.
And of course, my greatest passion is singing: singing my own songs, singing songs written by others—texts not my own, yet with which I feel a deep personal connection.
At present, I collaborate in various musical productions created by Canarian musician and accordionist Miguel Afonso. Needless to say, all my energy is focused on the development and promotion of my own body of work. With two albums on the market—“Mala Racha” (the first) and “Cantares desde la Loma” (the second)—I believe the time has come to give everything I have so that this work may reach as many people and places as possible.
